Blue Hole
Should have told you about the blue hole before I showed you my mine
Maybe then you’d know my confidence comes from a place and not my face
Just as rocks are smoothed by the elements, I am carved by ancient sentiments
I know who I am, I’ve tasted water that has never crossed a dam
Carry the stories of a thousand rains before me in a blood vessel under my knee
Cave drawings detail the primordials who ignite the sun, five cycles of creation have ended and begun
A legend of a panther and a bird that you have probably never heard
Protecting the sacred water a blue panther sat at the springs, until an anhinga bird dipped its wings
The droplets that fell as the bird soared grew to be the life of this world
Starting with flora and fauna, all life comes from the spirit of the water Yanaguana
Trees born from the water fallen during the bird’s fly by connect the underworld to the sky
We came to be in the groundwater underworld and followed a celestial deer to the realm of frontier
Humans were given hair to keep our souls from leaving our flesh-wear
You should know about that power when you lock my curls in your grip’s tower
When asked where from shouldn’t have said Texas like I did to all my exes
Could have answered with my beliefs not some small talk motifs
Like water is a spiral that does not operate linearly like a sundial
That chances don’t flow through the same river twice or visit the same paradise
Agua dulce, the water we call fresh is a gift for us to inmesh
Wherever I go I’m always searching for mysticism in a baptism
Voyaging to re-find that peaceful high like when the current of the bird’s wings pulls me up to the sky
Compared to the legends of the creek, I sound so fleeting when I speak
Feel what I feel without admonishment because life is not permanent
Since whatever is mine is still just a piece of coal compared to the blue hole
